Though plastic has been outlawed on her planet for many years, there is still much of it left in the environment. Maria Frances, the Mycologist, harnesses the mushrooms' ability to degrade plastic as part of her scientific practice repairing the earth. Here, she sits in a quiet moment of joy, the moment when she thinks of the answer to an equation that will allow for the mushrooms to provide a maximum amount of planetary restoration.
